The Smays adapter connects via micro USB and not full-sized USB, like the Ugreen adapter does. :-(, Found these two OTG cables from aliexpress: The Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K doesn’t officially support connecting anything to it except Amazon’s Fire TV Ethernet Adapter, but, using an inexpensive OTG cable it’s possible to use USB peripherals, such as keyboards and wired gamepads, as well as external USB drives. The Smays is great for the Fire TV Cube, because you don’t need to pass power through the adapter, but for the Fire TV Stick 4K, I think it’s best to use a regular OTG cable, the Ugreen adapter, and the stock power adapter. Eureka! I bought this hub and a otg cable for my firestick 4k the hub is on everything is connected as it should be. In the comments on my other post some people said the Ugreen Ethernet adapter did not work with their Fire TV stick. Works without a hitch and I get about 380 Mb/s with it versus about 95 Mb/s with a 10/100 ethernet adapter. In terms of write speed, it only write at 1mb/sec & below but when using standard micro usb otg without hub, it will write the at 5mb to 6mb per second consistently and it will load a 4k video file fast without buffering. First ES Explorer is fullly supported by firestick 4k, I use it all the time and with no issues. Is this compatible with the 4k firestick? Unless your goal is to get maximum speed on large file transfers, the 2.0 Ugreen device would be totally adequate and save you money. The support for USB drives, in particular, isn’t as thorough as the Fire TV Cube, which does officially support external storage, but it’s much better than the Fire TV 3 (pendant), which the Fire TV Stick 4K has replaced, so it’s a step in the right direction. Just Google how to do it using Windows Powershell. They combine the functions of OTG, USB hub and power supply together. You don’t need third party software to format a large drive to FAT32 in Windows 10. Just ordered one and will see if it fits the 4k stick. I can then play the movie/show directly from the memory stick using MX Player. To add to the frustration, with strong broadband speed (100+) and strong wi-fi signal (granted not 802.11ac), somehow cannot get Youtube to play @ 4k! ), also not seeing any USB (FAT32) drive. Along with the new 3rd generation Fire TV, Amazon has released their own official Fire TV Ethernet Adapter that also works with the 2nd generation Fire TV Stick.It’s a fine adapter if all you want is to add Ethernet capabilities to your Fire TV or Fire TV Stick, but most people will be much better off buying this UGREEN Ethernet Adapter w/ USB Hub along with an OTG Adapter.
